Good News for People With Approved Applications

Per CIRCULAR AJ-1945-11-2020-ABM, a slight change has been published regarding authorized entry to the country.

Up until Friday, November 20th, 2020, people who had received the approval Resolution of their Residency were not allowed to enter the country as Residents but rather as tourists. This has now changed.

People whose approval resolutions have been issued and notified may now enter the country meeting the entry requirements for Residents. The following rules apply: 

1. The person will be obliged to carry the approval resolution stating that the Residency has been approved. For Temporary Residents and Special Categories, only resolutions notified after December 18, 2019, onwards will be accepted. Resolutions notified prior to that will need to enter as tourists, For Estancias, the notification must have been received after March 18, 2020, onwards.

2. For Permanent Residents, it does not matter how long ago the approval resolution was notified.

Therefore, in summary, people who have received the approval Resolution of their Residencies, even if they have not received their local ID cards known as DIMEX (typically referred to as cedulas) will now be allowed to enter meeting the entry requirements of Residents.
